A vehicle's brakes are one of its most important safety features, and we want to make sure that Whiteheart and Sons Automotive and Towing customers stay safe. Whether your brake pads are signaling they need replacement, your brake light is on, or you're not comfortable with how quickly your vehicle is slowing down, call us at 336-724-7463 or visit us in Winston-Salem and we'll give you a prompt diagnosis of your braking system's safety and reliability.
Anti-Lock Brake System
Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) ensure that the wheels don't stop rotating during braking, preventing the car from skidding and offering greater control. If your ABS light comes on, visit Whiteheart and Sons Automotive and Towing where we will be happy to diagnose and fix the problem.
Brake Fluid Flushes
Brake fluid will absorb water from the air over time, causing the brake system to become less effective and the fluid to become corrosive, possibly damaging the system. It is important to perform a brake fluid flush regularly to ensure that your vehicle is using fresh fluid. Talk to our technicians at Whiteheart and Sons Automotive and Towing about when it's time for a brake fluid flush.
A brake hose is a tube carrying pressurized brake fluid from the master cylinder to the brakes. A crushed hose can cause a lagged or slow brake, and a leak in the hose can cause the brake, or the entire brake system, to fail. These don't need to be replaced often, but should be replaced at the first sign of cracking or wear.
Brake Pad & Shoe Replacement
Brake pad problems can usually be identified by squealing brakes. If your brake pads deteriorate completely, you'll hear a grinding metal-on-metal sound when braking, meaning that it's too late and you're ruining your rotors or drums! Those with knowledge of auto repair may be able to fix this at home, but you should always see an auto repair professional immediately if you have brake problems.
The brake caliper houses your brake pads and fits around the rotor like a clamp, pressing the pads against the rotor when you brake. A brake caliper problem could cause uneven braking, making your car slide forward when you brake. Uneven braking can also cause your vehicle to slide out of control in bad weather conditions, so contact Whiteheart and Sons Automotive and Towing as soon as possible.
In a disc brake system, rotors are attached to your vehicle's wheels. When the brake pads grip the rotor, they bring both the rotor and wheels to a stop. However, the friction causes grooves and cracks to appear over time. Resurfacing brings the rotor back to a "like-new" condition, reducing squealing and wobbling. Whiteheart and Sons Automotive and Towing will give your rotors a thorough inspection and recommend your best course of action.

It's Saturday. Yesterday I had my car's air compressor and all components replaced. Today I ran a couple of errands. On way home coolant flushed out and it started to overheat, then it shut down. I pulled off to the side of the road, car wouldn't start. The repair shop was closed, I will deal with them on Monday. I had just joined AAA so I thought, "wow, what luck!" I called them at 4:00PM. They said a technician was notified but they could not get to me until at least 7:00PM because they were so busy. I was not happy to say the least. I called Whiteheart and Sons. They dispatched a truck that showed up in 15 MINUTES! I cancelled the AAA service call...I will deal with them on Monday. The driver called me when he was on his way, named Ronald Clint (hope I have the name correct). He pulled up, the car had cooled off enough so it would start and I was able to pull it onto the flatbed. He hooked it up carefully and we were off. I had it towed to my home since I will be asking the repair facility that worked on it to pick it up Monday and fix the faulty work. I was so thankful to Ron and I had told him about my AAA experience and I told him how impressed I was that he had shown up so quickly. While he was lowering the flatbed preparing to unload my car, he told me to have a look at the back window of his truck...I see the AAA sticker, they are an approved/recommended AAA company! I took a picture of that. Why AAA told me I could not be helped and they intended to leave me sitting on the side of the road for THREE HOURS is something I will be speaking to them about on Monday. Between the repair shop and AAA, I have a lot of ass to kick on Monday. I have Whiteheart and Sons' phone number saved in my phone. I cannot recommend them enough. Friendly, professional driver with a top-level tow truck that was well-equipped and looked immaculate. All that and the quick dispatch and pickup, this is THE place to call if you ever need a tow. THANK YOU!!!
